Matteo Rapallini

President

Early Life and Education

Matteo was born in the Northern Italian region of Liguria. Where he spent most of his childhood observing his grandfather reclaim small smokehouse buildings, ancient vestiges and flour mills to later transform them into the homes where Matteo’s family and his relatives spent most of their lives. The combination of his mother’s artistic instincts along with his grandfather’s vision in creating new homes out of old spaces was the perfect catalyst for his innate passion for architecture and design.

He received his Bachelor of Science with a concentration in Architecture from Pennsylvania State University where he received an Honorable Mention for being among the Best Designers for the School of Architecture in 2005. He later attended the School of Architecture at North Carolina State University where he received a Master’s in Architecture. Matteo was the recipient of two prestigious scholarships, was nominated as a Kamphoefner Fellow by the Architecture Faculty and received a Faculty Award for Design Achievement in the M.Arch Program in Honor of the Emeritus Faculty of the Department.

Influential Experience:

Whether it may be in patent design, auto design, interior design, or architectural design Matteo’s ability to visualize solutions is unlimited. His broad background and abilities differentiate him from most architects. Prior to becoming an architect, he worked as an auto mechanic, a welder, a constructor and a metal fabricator in the US Air Force as well as the civilian world. He has done everything from HVAC installation to carpentry. The skills that Matteo developed during those years, along with his design experience, allow him to clearly articulate all the facets of design and construction of a project.

Practice:

Matteo possesses the ability to understand a problem tangibly and create a solution by combining solutions from separate fields of practice. For the last eight years Matteo's broad project experience across various construction type, and regional setting has allowed him to become a building envelope design and expert in both constructibility, and variety of separate regional settings. Matteo's practice spans from the East, to the West Coast of the US. Matteo's other areas of practice also include construction defect forensic investigation, and construction management.
