Eyelash Salon SPA

This project's restrictive budget presented some serious challenges. The scope was to create an attractive and fun eye lash spa designed to make a statement and distinguish itself from other businesses in the area. When Matteo sat with the client, he quickly responded to the challenge to design a simple, yet luxurious space at half the price of ongoing construction in the Charleston area.

When first presented with the challenge to help a client with a limited budget, Matteo's first instinct was to think of the time when he was a child; the most basic and inexpensive practice of constructing a space to play in was to utilize a cardboard box. It was in this moment where I sketched a very interesting looking box, I looked at the client and stated that we could always build a simple box containing the program.

"We will extrude a square and just place it into space like a beautiful jewelry box containing spaces where the rituals of beautification take place"
